The Wise Turtle & Rushing Rabbit – A Moral Story of Patience

The Story Begins: The Fast Rabbit & The Slow Turtle

Peacefully living in a luxuriant green forest was Taro, a wise old turtle. Though slow, he was respected by all animals for his knowledge.

A small rabbit one day burst hopping enthusiastically came Rizo.

Rizo laughed, "Taro, why are you so slow? Life is short! You should move fast like me."

Taro grinned. "Speed doesn't mean much, kid. At times, patience prevails over speed shot.”

Rizo, however, was not hearing. He yelled and ran, "Stories are not something I have time for."

The River Challenge – A Test of Patience

As days passed, the rainy season arrived. The river in the forest overflowed, making it dangerous to cross. Many animals, including Rizo, were stranded.

Taro saw their fear and slowly approached.

“Climb onto my back,” he said. “I’ll carry you across safely.”

A wise old turtle carrying a scared rabbit on its back while crossing a rushing river, surrounded by a lush green forest.

One by one, the animals stepped onto Taro’s strong shell. With his steady pace, he swam through the raging river.

When it was Rizo’s turn, he hesitated.

“I’ll jump instead. I’m faster than you!” he declared.

Without thinking, Rizo leaped—but miscalculated and fell straight into the rushing river!

A Lesson Learned – Slow and Steady Wins

The strong current pulled Rizo away. He struggled, gasping for breath.

“Help! I should have listened!” he cried.

Taro, moving steadily, reached Rizo just in time and pulled him onto his shell.

As they crossed safely, Taro said:

“Patience and wisdom will always outlast speed and carelessness.”

Humbled, Rizo replied, “You were right, Taro. I will think before I act from now on.”

From that day, Rizo became a wiser rabbit, learning that wisdom and patience are more valuable than speed in life.

Moral of the story: why slow and constant wins, is this:

  • Success comes from patience and knowledge; failure results from hastiness.
  • Before acting, thinking lets us take wiser courses.
  • 🐢 Steady and slow completes the race!
